Bayer selected “Young Environmetal Envoys”
Bayer Turk selected the university students that will represent Turkey in Germany within the scope of "Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program". Buğra Tıraş and Alperen Dülge will meet their peers, who are also sensitive about environment and come from all around the world to Germany between 8 - 13 November.
 
The project competition “ Let’s reduce our footprints in the nature” which was organized among the university students for the third time in Turkey with the cooperation of Bayer Turk and WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund), was finalized in the frame of "Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program".
 
Buğra Tıraş from Boğaziçi University and Alperen Dülge from Bahçeşehir University were selected as 2009 Bayer Young Environmental Envoys with their projects “ Are You Aware Of Your Footprint?" and " Seperating Black Water and Grey Water”, respectively. Tıraş and Dülge will represent Turkey in the Young Environmental Envoys meeting, which will be held in Leverkusen, Germany between 8-13 November 2009.
 
This year’s competition theme was “ Let’s Reduce Our Footprints In the Nature”. Project evaluation was carried out by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Samsunlu, a Professor in the Environmental Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University; Dr. Sebastian Guth, CEO of Bayer Turk; Filiz Demirayak, General Manager of WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund); Şelale Kadak, a journalist; and Taylan Bilik, a communication consultant. As a result of the evaluation, Buğra Tıraş and Alperen Dülge were selected to represent Turkey in the Bayer Young Environmental Envoys Meeting, which will be held between 8 - 13 November. Tıraş and Dülge also accepted to be interns in Bayer Turk, besides, they won a laptop. Mert Güller, who is a student of Environmental Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University, also won a laptop with his social responsibility project titled " Love the Planet".
 
Projects to be represented in Germany
 
The project “ Are you aware of your footprint?" by Buğra Tıraş, who is a student in Industrial Engineering Department of Boğaziçi University, aims to raise the awareness of school children and their families about ecological footprints. On the other hand, Alperen Dülge, who is a student in Environmental Engineering Department of Bahçeşehir University suggests splitting, collecting and recycling household wastewater in accordance with its contamination level in its project " Seperating Between Black Water and Grey Water".
 
  About Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program
 
Approximately 50 Young Environmental Envoys from 18 different countries, which include India, Brazil, China and Poland, will gather in the Bayer Young Environmental Envoys Meeting that will be held between 8 - 13 November within the scope of Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program, which is led by Bayer and UNEP (United States Environmental Program).
 
Young Environmental Envoys, who will have the chance of sharing with each other their projects on the solution of the environmental problems, will also be able to gain first-hand experience on the principles and practice of modern environmental protection in Germany. The program has a focus on the interplay of industry, households and governments in the achievement of sustainable development goals.
