Bayer CropScience’s Mobile “Wheat Clinic” Started Its Tour
Bayer CropScience’s “Wheat Clinic”, a unique mobile laboratory equipped with modern analytical apparatuses, started its tour across the Thrace region. The Wheat Clinic, which will visit 2-3 villages per day till the end of the season, was developed by Bayer CropScience to offering farmers the opportunity to have their cereal plants analyzed by qualified experts in their village.

Bayer CropScience’s “Wheat Clinic”, a unique mobile laboratory equipped with modern analytical apparatuses, started its tour across the Thrace region. The Wheat Clinic, which will visit 2-3 villages per day till the end of the season, was developed by Bayer CropScience to offering farmers the opportunity to have their cereal plants analyzed by qualified experts in their village. Main focus is on fungal diseases, which can cause significant yield and quality losses, and often require a professional eye to be identified correctly. Additionally weeds and insects can also be brought along for identification to the Wheat Clinic.

“Wheat is the most strategic agricultural crop in our country. Turkish farmers can increase their yield via implementing the right crop protection solution”, explained Dr. Ilhan Kural, Research and Development Manager at Bayer CropScience Turkey, at a press briefing held in Çatalca. “ Supervised by two Bayer specialists the new mobile laboratory includes a display system for informative films, a binocular microscope and a pH meter as well as informative printed materials regarding crop protection and pest control. In addition to the Agroarenas successfully implemented and in the third year now, the Wheat Clinic shows our commitment to providing innovative crop protection products, know-how and technical advice to the farming community”, he added.

The dates that the Wheat Clinic will visit a village is announced a few days beforehand to allow the farmers to collect specimens. Bayer CropScience intends to extend this concept in upcoming years to include also other regions and crops.
