2008 Bayer Young Environmental Envoys are selected
Project competition featuring “Who Has The Campaign To Save The World?” held under Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program is finalized. Hürmiye Atasoy from Istanbul University with her project titled “All the Problems Will be Dissolved”, and Cem Çeri from Mimar Sinan University with his project titled “What Can I Do Alone Against Global Warming?”, are qualified as the first two in the Competition to represent Turkey at Young Environmental Envoys meeting to be held in Germany between 2-7 November 2008.
Project competition featuring “Who Has The Campaign To Save The World?” held under Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program is finalized. Hürmiye Atasoy from Istanbul University with her project titled “All the Problems Will be Dissolved”, and Cem Çeri from Mimar Sinan University with his project titled “What Can I Do Alone Against Global Warming?”, are qualified as the first two in the Competition to represent Turkey at Young Environmental Envoys meeting to be held in Germany between 2-7 November 2008. Both projects aim to increase the awareness of the public on climate change.
Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program, headed “Who Has The Campaign To Save The World?, was
held for the second time in Turkey with the cooperation of
Bayer Turk and
WWF-Turkey (World Wildlife Fund). Open to the participation of the university
students, the Program aims to attract the youth attention to the effects of the biggest
environmental disaster of the 21st Century, the Global Climate Change.
The jury members of this year’s competition were Bayer Turk CEO
Dr. Sebastian Guth, WWF Turkey Communications and Fundraising Coordinator
Arzu Balkuv,
Prof. Dr. Miktad Kadıoğlu, Columnist
Şelale Kadak and Bersay Communications Group General Manager
Ali Saydam. The criteria for the selection process among the six projects was the
determination of the problem, being innovative and creative, and applicability.
Hürmiye Atasoy from Istanbul University, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Biology
Division, is ranked first with her project titled
“All the Problems Will be Dissolved” where she proposed alternative solutions to
plastic bags and
Cem Çeri from Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Faculty, is ranked the second with
his project titled
“What Can I Do Alone Against Global Warming” aiming to increase the awareness of
children about global warming, and
Orçin Uzun from Kocaeli University, Communications Faculty, is ranked third with
his project titled
“Everything will be Cheaper than Water”.
About 50 Young Environmental Envoys from 18 different countries including Brazil, China and
Poland will meet at the Bayer Young Young Environmental Envoy Meeting to be held in Germany from
November 2-7, 2008. Young Environmental Envoys, who will have the chance of sharing with each other
their projects on the resolution of the environmental problems, will also be able to gain
first-hand experience on the principles and practice of modern environmental protection in Germany.
The program has a focus on the interplay of industry, households and governments in the achievement
of sustainable development goals.
